The Inaugural Meeting of the 10th Governing Council of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, was held on Thursday, 28th August, 2025, with assurances to consolidate academic excellence, innovation, research visibility, accountability and improved welfare of staff and students. The meeting which was the 72nd Regular meeting of the Council  held at the Council Chambers of the Polytechnic, was presided over by the Chairman, Barrister Sani Shaibu. In his inaugural address, Barr. Shaibu expressed profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kogi State and Visitor to the Polytechnic, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for the confidence reposed in him and other Council members.  He described the appointment as a privilege and honour, pledging to justify the trust through dedicated service and purposeful leadership. The Computer-Based Test Centre at the prestigious Titcombe College, Egbe, one of the oldest in Northern Nigeria, is worth over N200m, and it is meant to service students from Kogi, Kwara and Ekiti States who would be writing government approved examinations. Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), to kick-start running of degree programmes in the institution. In the landmark agreement signed on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the University’s Senate Hall,  a Study Centre will be established at the Polytechnic Main Campus, Lokoja, for the running of regular undergraduate degree and Top-Up programmes. The regular degree programmes provide opportunities for interested applicants to apply for available courses through UTME and Direct entry modes. The Top-Up mode of the agreement will facilitate the conversion of Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates into corresponding and available undergraduate degrees programmes.  The Top-Up programmes will be offered on both Part Time and Full Time basis. The MoU also covers staff and student exchange programmes, equipment sharing for practicals to strengthen joint research and collaborative learning initiatives....

Comfort Onojah has commiserated with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, over the death of his father, Alhaji Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo. Hon. Comfort in her condolence message, described the late Alhaji Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo as a man whose life embodied humility, piety and dedication to the wellbeing of others.  According to the SSA, the death of Governor Ododo’s father, Alhaji Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo is a great loss, not just to  the family but to Kogi State in General. She noted that his wisdom and strength shaped generations and found full expression in the leadership qualities of his son, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. Hon. Comfort Onojah prayed God to grant the family of the Governor the fortitude to bear the loss and grant the soul of Alhaji Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo eternal rest.

On behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Academic Board, staff and students of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, I wish to extend our deepest condolences to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on the sad event of the passing of his beloved father, Alhaji Ahmed Momohsani Ododo who returned to his Creator at the blessed age of 83. The news of Baba’s passing is indeed a painful one to us all. But we take solace in the fact that he lived a  fulfilled and impactful life; a life anchored on devotion to the service of Allah (SWT), and commitment to the well-being of his family, and community. We pray to Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, accept his acts of worship and good deeds, and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus. We received with deep shock and profound sadness the news of the passing of Alhaji Ahmed Momoh-sani Ododo,  the beloved father of His Excellency,  the executive governor of Kogi State. The National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Lokoja area office has commenced the enforcement of Inland Waterways Transportation Regulation twenty twenty-three, by arresting defaulters across boat landing points in Kogi State. This is in a bid to ensure the compliance with the Inland Waterways Transportation Regulation twenty twenty-three, as NIWA Lokoja Area Office embarked on enforcement of the regulations across the state, starting from Kpata market and Ganaja Boat landing points, arresting defaulters who failed to abide by the waterways safety protocols. The regulations includes wearing of life jackets, avoid overloading, boats must be in good condition and all boat operators must be licensed to operate amongst others. The SSA made the appeal in an interview during a visit to Radio Kogi in Lokoja. Hon  Comfort, who is popularly called "Ododo Mama", emphasized the importance of immunizing children from age zero to six months to prevent them from contracting diseases in future.  "If you don't immunize your children, you know, there will be a lot of diseases going on that is to affect them. That's why some people are crippled, some are blind because they did not immunize them from the infant to that age". She said. The Senior Special Assistant noted that members of her team are going round presently to immunizing children and called on mothers to be  available to participate in the exercise. The Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Abdulmalik has donated football equipments worth hundreds of thousands of Naira to kogi united football club. The items which were handed over to the new team manager of the club, Itodo Michael Olachene, comprises, small tactical board with the seed numbered, latest whistles, flat cones, 10 pairs of Fifa approved Balls, set of Bibs, agility ladder, Huddles, Slalom Poles, training kits among others.
