SSA to Kogi State Governor on Immunization, Hon Comfort Onojah calls on mothers to make their children available for ongoing immunization across communities
The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Kogi State Governor on Immunization, Hon. comfort Onojah has appealed to mothers to make their children available for the ongoing immunization across the State.
The SSA made the appeal in an interview during a visit to Radio Kogi in Lokoja.
Hon Comfort, who is popularly called "Ododo Mama", emphasized the importance of immunizing children from age zero to six months to prevent them from contracting diseases in future.
"If you don't immunize your children, you know, there will be a lot of diseases going on that is to affect them. That's why some people are crippled, some are blind because they did not immunize them from the infant to that age". She said.
The Senior Special Assistant noted that members of her team are going round presently to immunizing children and called on mothers to be available to participate in the exercise.
"If you go to Olamarboro, my teams are there. They are going up and down to immunize children. But at times, when they go to some people's house, they will refuse to bring their children out. I urge them to bring their children out for the immunization because it prevents so many diseases when the child is growing up". SSA.
Reacting to the misconception of some mothers that the drugs makes some children to develop some sicknesses, the SSA said the drugs are mainly for prevention of future diseases among children.
She lamented the refusal of some mothers to bring their children out to be immunized, describing such attitude as ignorance of the benefits of immunization to children.
According to her, there is an ongoing campaign in different ways to include Leaflets, radio jingles among others to create more awareness especially at grassroots on the need for mothers to embrace immunization of the children.
