'Embrace Farming, Shun Social Vices', Esanuaje Charges Nigerian Youths

Dr. Samuel Babatunde (aka Esanuaje), has enjoined Nigerian youths to embrace farming to generate significant income and improve their living standards.   Babatunde gave the advice while speaking to journalists at sideline of the 2024 Orokere Day celebration at Orokere-Amuro in Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State. WAFU B U-20: Flying Eagles Beats Ghana to Retain Title

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have won this year’s WAFU Zone B championship after defeating Black Satellites of Ghana two-one in the final last night. The win in the final match played at the Stade de Kegue in Lome, Togo, means the Flying Eagles have retained the WAFU Zone B title which they won in twenty twenty-two. A brace from Kparobo Arierhi was enough to earn coach Aliyu Suberu’s men the trophy. Arierhi opened the scoring in the 33rd minute before getting on the score sheet again to double the lead. Ghana pulled a goal back in the 74th minute but the Flying Eagles held on to emerge champions. After losing one-one-zero to Burkina Faso in their opening game, the Nigerian team beat Cote d’Ivoire two-one to progress into the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, the team came from a goal down to beat Niger Republic. Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria and Black Satellites of Ghana have both qualified for the 2025 Under-twenty  AFCON tournament.

OWA Seeks Government's Intervention To Rehabilitate Community Roads, Upgrade Health facility

Mrs Ododo urges pregnant women to prioritise visiting health facilities to reduce complications

Ododo made the call when she visited Kogi Specialist Hospital (KSSH), and the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp on Monday in Lokoja. The governor’s wife also donated cash gifts and essential supplies to women who recently gave birth at the IDP camps, in order to reduce the financial and medical challenges they faced. Kogi VCDP holds policy dialogue to boost cassava value chain

By Stephen Adeleye Lokoja, October 26, 2024 The FGN/IFAD Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP-AF), has held policy dialogue on cassava value chain and import substitution towards enhancing cassava production and processing for sustainable agricultural transformation in the state. The Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, who declared the dialogue open on Friday in Lokoja, promised the commitment of Kogi Government to sustain its support for VCDP in the state. Yusuf, who was represented by member representing Ogori-mangongo constituency, Hon. Bode Ogunmola, emphasised the role of the state Assembly in law making and promised people-oriented legislation. AFCON Qualifiers: CAF hands victory to Nigeria, fines Libya $50,000

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has awarded three points, and three goals to Nigeria for the abandoned game against Libya. The decision follows an investigation into the botched October 15 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Benghazi by the CAF Disciplinary Board. Nigeria had walked away from the tie following poor treatment by the host country that left Super Eagles players and staff stranded at an abandoned airport for almost a day. CAF in its ruling said it found the Libya Football Federation to have breached Article 31 of the African Cup of Nations Regulations as well as Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code. The Libya Football Federation is ordered to pay a fine of USD 50,000. The fine is to be paid within 60 days of notification of the present decision. All other and further motions or prayers for relief are dismissed. Bobrisky Detained Overnight, Transferred to FCID Annex in Lagos

Nigerian crossdresser Okuneye Idris, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been transferred to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos after spending a night in police custody. According to police sources, Bobrisky was detained at a police facility following his arrest by officials from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) during an attempt to leave the country via the Seme border. The crossdresser was reportedly brought to the FCID at around 10 PM on Monday. A police source revealed, “Bobrisky was arrested at the Seme border and subsequently detained overnight before being transferred to the FCID.” The source noted that further instructions regarding his case are pending. By Christopher Negedu  Kogi State Commissioner of water Resources, Engineer Yahaya Farouk, on Saturday, the 19th of October joined other voters to cast his ballot at ward  D, Yaragi Polling units 010, Lokoja Local Government Area.  Speaking with Newsmen shortly after casting his vote, the Commissioner described the conduct of the election as transparent and peaceful. Engineer Farouk who commended the people of the area for conducting themselves in a peaceful manner, said they were known for peace making, which he noted that they displayed during the exercise.
