WAFU B U-20: Flying Eagles Beats Ghana to Retain Title
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have won this year’s WAFU Zone B championship after defeating Black Satellites of Ghana two-one in the final last night.
The win in the final match played at the Stade de Kegue in Lome, Togo, means the Flying Eagles have retained the WAFU Zone B title which they won in twenty twenty-two.
A brace from Kparobo Arierhi was enough to earn coach Aliyu Suberu’s men the trophy.
Arierhi opened the scoring in the 33rd minute before getting on the score sheet again to double the lead.
Ghana pulled a goal back in the 74th minute but the Flying Eagles held on to emerge champions.
After losing one-one-zero to Burkina Faso in their opening game, the Nigerian team beat Cote d’Ivoire two-one to progress into the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, the team came from a goal down to beat Niger Republic.
Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria and Black Satellites of Ghana have both qualified for the 2025 Under-twenty AFCON tournament.
