Alh. Almaruf Salimonu describes Education as a veritable tool to ward off ignorance, other societal ills


Education has been described as a veritable tool to ward off ignorance and other form of societal ills.

Founder of Almaruf Educational Support Foundation, Alhaji Almaruf Salimonu stated this while speaking with newspaper in Abuja.

Alhaji Salimonu said education at all times has proven its potency against societal ills through reformation and behavioral modification.

He appealed to parents to take the education of their ward seriously to reduce ignorance, poverty and crimes.

Alhaji Salimonu said he floated his foundation to assist students in their academic pursuit noting that the foundation with the spans of over a decade has helped in providing instructional materials, exercise books and transport facilities to encourage students across the state.

According to him, the foundation has also supported students of divers groups including tertiary institutions across the country noting that plans are on to concentrate more on the transport sector to assist those having difficulty with distance.

His words; " Almaruf Educational Support Foundation has played several roles to motivate learning activities. It started in 2012 specifically and we had been distributing exercise books and other educational materials to support the government of the day. Our vision is to see that every child is entitled to academic exposure for capacity development. Back n those days, things are hard as a growing child. Parents at times can't even pay for common craft fee. That not school fee, common craft. So we believe if parents and students are motivated and assisted in communal ways, a lot will at the end of the day be achieved. For real, the president is doing a lot to assist through NELFUND and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has been able to sustain free education policy initiated by his predecessor, Governor Yahaya Bello. I think those ideas are commendable. I call on other well meaning individuals in the country to assist where necessary. It is good to note that people are drawing my attention to politics in Okun land. I want them to know that I appreciate the move and I am consulting to to see its viability."


On the call to serve in public office, Alhaji Salimonu who emphasized that he was aware of the development said consultations is ongoing for possible interest in the dimension.

In a bold and proactive move to address rising insecurity and the influx of Fulani into Ofante Ogugu community, Executive Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government, Hon. Ameh Williams, on June 20th, visited the community and Declared Zero Tolerance for insecurity and Criminal Activities in the area. 2024/2025 WAEC Data Capturing Commences In Kogi Public Secondary Schools Jan. 13

By Stephen Adeleye  Lokoja, Jan. 10, 2025 The Kogi State Ministry of Education, has announced the date for the commencement of Data Capturing for 2024/2025  West African Examination Council (WAEC) in Public Secondary Schools across the state.   The announcement was made in a statement signed by Mrs Iyabo Moraiyewa, the WAEC Desk Officer, Kogi State Ministry of Education on Friday in Lokoja.  According to the statement, the 2024/2025 WAEC data capturing would commence on Monday, January 13, 2025. Moraiyewa solicited for the total support and cooperation of the relevant stakeholders for a seamless exercise.
