Kogi West Senate: Hon. Babadoko, Calls For Continuity, "Tasks Lokoja On Return of Senator Karimi for a Second Term”
The Lukpan of Lokoja and former Member Representing the people of Lokoja | constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Suleiman Babadoko, has called on the people of Lokoja to throw their weight behind Senator Sunday Steve Karimi for a second term in office, stressing that his re-election will guarantee sustained development and inclusiveness.
Speaking to newsmen during the weekend, Hon. Babadoko, who served as Director-General of Karimi’s campaign in the 2023 elections, declared:
“I have no hesitation in saying that Senator Sunday Karimi has justified the confidence reposed in him by the people of Lokoja. He has delivered in critical areas of education, healthcare, infrastructure, empowerment, agriculture, and religious harmony. Lokoja has never had it this good.”
Highlighting some of the Senator’s achievements, he said:
“In the area of education, Senator Karimi constructed classrooms in the Muslim Community Secondary School and launched a ₦100 million scholarship fund for tertiary students across Lokoja. This has eased the burden on parents and gave hope to many young people who would otherwise struggle to continue their education.”
On infrastructure and security, Babadoko noted:
“He facilitated and installed over 20 solar-powered boreholes across Lokoja Local Government, ensuring communities have access to safe drinking water. He distributed transformers to Wards to improve electricity supply. He also awarded the fencing of Adankolo Police Station to enhance security and is building a cottage hospital at Edo in Kakanda Ward, Lokoja II, to bring healthcare closer to our people.”
Addressing Karimi’s humanitarian and religious support, he added:
“During Ramadan and Sallah, he distributed food and cash to Muslims, giving ₦1 million to each central mosque in Lokoja. Christians were not left out, he also supported churches with food and cash during festive seasons. This shows he is a leader for all, committed to unity and peace.”
On empowerment, Hon. Babadoko stated:
“Karimi secured employment for youths and women in federal government agencies and paramilitary institutions. He empowered 400 traders under the Lokoja Arewa Traders Union with millions of naira, supported 1,000 traders with ₦100,000 each across the seven local governments, and disbursed ₦100 million to 50 cooperative groups after training. In Lokoja alone, he empowered five cooperative groups with ₦15 million. These interventions have lifted many families out of poverty.”
He also recalled Karimi’s support for farmers and victims of disasters:
“The Senator donated fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides to farmers in Lokoja, boosting food production. He donated ₦10 million to victims of the Ebwa Kupa crisis and rehabilitated the Lokoja Fish Market to revive economic activity in the area.”
Emphasizing the need for continuity, Hon. Babadoko said:
“All these achievements came within just one term with lots of goodies to come. If Senator Karimi could do this in less than 3 years, imagine what he will accomplish in eight years. For us to consolidate these gains, Lokoja must return him to the Senate. His re-election is not just about politics; it is about progress, stability, and the future of our children.”
He appealed to stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, and women to unite behind Senator Karimi:
“I urge every son and daughter of Lokoja to come together and ensure Senator Karimi returns for a second term. His representation is our pride, and his continuity is our path to greater development.”
