Reverend Odoh of U.E.C urges Journalists to be accurate in the discharge of their responsibilities

Journalists in the country have been urged to be accurate in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Resident Minister in charge of the United Evangelical Church (UEC) Lokongwoma Phase one-Lokoja, Reverend Mathew Peter Odoh gave the charge at the Special Church Service marking this year's Press Week of the Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ.

Reverend Odoh who described journalists as mediators between the people and the government, urged them to see themselves as Moses of the present generation.

He charged Journalists to be diligent and courageous in the discharge of their constitutional duties by relating well, the activities of Government to the people as well as pay attention to the cries of the people.

"You are standing between us the populace and the government. When you hear from us, tell them what we are saying and when you hear from them, what do you do? Tell us, I know that is the core course of your job. We need job, we need light, we cannot go there, we can send you." He said.

The Clergy noted that insecurity contributes greatly to the current hunger and hardship in the land as people can no longer go to their farms due to fear of attack, appealing to journalists to continue to reflect the true realities of insecurities and other vices in their reportage.

Reverend Odoh also admonished believers to sustain their prayers for leaders in the country and prayed God to grant President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the wisdom to pilot the affairs the nation.

Early, the Vice Chairman, Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Comrade Ibrahim Obansa said the essence of the Special Church Service was to thank God for the journey so far and solicit God's wisdom and protection upon journalists in the discharge of their responsibilities.
